How to Become a Rice
Hospice Volunteer

Rice volunteers do not expect to receive rewards, however, the first thing most volunteers say about the volunteer experience is that they receive far more than they could ever give.

"Volunteers experience what is known as a 'helper's high,'" says Evy Hatjistilianos, Rice Hospice Volunteer Coordinator.

"Researchers have found there's an actual physical sensation that can be brought on by helping others.

"I would encourage everyone who's thinking about becoming a volunteer to jump in - volunteering is good for you!"

We value the input of hospice volunteers who are an essential member of the patient's support team.

At Rice Hospice, we provide ongoing support and educational opportunities to help you be the best volunteer possible. We provide you with tips and sharing throughout the year in a variety of ways, including the monthly Volunteer Newsletter.

We also formally recognize volunteers at an Appreciation Dinner during National Volunteer Week every April.

Volunteers are also invited to attend an annual Share the Spirit educational retreat held at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Willmar each Fall.
